Port Wine stain or capillary hemangioma, is a congenital birthmark, or blush. When the stain is in cosmetically sensitive areas, treatment may be indicated. Occasionally, medical complications may be associated with port wine stains, necessitating urgent treatment. Such cases are usually complex pediatric cases. Most commonly, use of the flashlamp pulsed dye laser is required. Multiple treatments may be necessary, and complete clearance may not be achievable. Anesthesia may be required, particularly in pediatric cases.
